Bangladesh need a miracle to beat in-form SriLanka

Karachi: Bangladesh may not concede an inch without a fight but going by form and depth, Sri Lanka should not break a sweat to tame the tigers in the Asia Cup Super Four stage match here on Monday.

Sri Lanka thumped Bangladesh by 131 runs in their previous meeting in the group stage at Lahore and Mohammad Ashraful's teammates would have to pull off a huge upset if they are to stop the Sri Lankans.

As they learnt from their previous match experience, Sri Lanka's hard-hitting opening pair of Kumar Sangakkara and Sanath Jayasuirya is enough to snatch the momentum, and effectively the game, and they need to come up with something special to curb the left-handed duo on Monday.
Newcomer Mahela Udawatte, who opened with Sangakkara against UAE, has got into the groove early and is a tough customer, and Sri Lanka also has a middle order mainstay in skipper Mahela Jayawardene.

London: England captain Kevin Pietersen won the toss and elected to field against New Zealand in the fifth and final One-Day International at Lord's here on Saturday.

Pietersen was leading England for the first time as regular One-Day captain Paul Collingwood began a four-match ban following his side's slow over-rate during their defeat at The Oval on Wednesday.

England recalled opener Alastair Cook in place of all-rounder Collingwood with Luke Wright, normally a One-Day opener, now listed to come in at No 6. This

was 22-year-old Essex left-hander Cook's first appearance of the series.

The last of his previous 21 ODIs came during a 34-run defeat against New Zealand in Christchurch in February. New Zealand were unchanged from the team that won by one wicket off the last ball at The Oval.

All-rounder Grant Elliott was passed fit after sustaining a thigh injury during a collision with Ryan Sidebottom which led to his controversial run-out on Wednesday.

Srilanka Won by 64 runs

Karachi: Pakistan skipper Shoaib Malik won the toss in their Super Four match with Sri Lanka and surprisingly decided to field first.

With the National Stadium track promising to host another run-fest, it cam as quite a surprise when Malik opted to send the Sri Lankans in, much to the rather unconcealed delight of Sri Lanka skipper Mahela Jayawardene.

Umar Gul is out of the Pakistan XI, as is Fawad Alam, while Wahab Riaz and Mansoor Amjad come into the side.

Sri Lanka have, needless to say, brought back the big guns, with Sanath Jayasuriya, Chaminda Vaas and Murali Muralitharan cominig back into the side.

Coach Geoff Lawson and skipper Shoaib Malik must be scratching their heads to come up with the best bowling combination which will now be spearheaded by Sohail Tanvir.
